The reason why the edge banding strip blisters after edge sealing may be due to the air or moisture between the edge banding strip and the substrate being trapped under the edge banding strip, causing bubbles to form. This situation may be caused by the following factors:
4 factors:
1.Inadequate bonding: Inadequate bonding between the edge banding strip and the substrate is one of the most common causes of bubble formation. If the edge banding is not properly adhered to the substrate surface when installed, voids may be left that allow air or moisture to enter and form bubbles.
2.Air bubbles trapped during installation: During the installation of the edge strip, if the air is not completely squeezed out of the contact surface under the edge strip, air bubbles will be trapped at the bottom of the edge strip, forming bubbles.
3.Uneven substrate surface: If there are dents, protrusions, or other unevenness on the substrate surface, the edge strip may not fit completely, leaving gaps that can cause bubbles to form.
4.Humidity issues: The ambient humidity when installing the edge strip may affect the bonding effect between the edge strip and the substrate. If the ambient humidity is too high, the adhesive may not dry sufficiently, causing bubbles to form.
In order to reduce or avoid the problem of blistering of edge banding strips, the following measures can be taken
1.Before installing the edge banding strip, make sure the substrate surface is clean, flat, and free of dust, oil, etc.
2.Use suitable tools and materials and follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer to properly install the edge banding.
3.Make sure that air or moisture is completely squeezed out when installing the edge banding, and that the edge banding is fully attached to the substrate surface.
4.In the environment where the edge banding is installed, try to control the humidity to ensure that the adhesive can dry effectively.
