Currently, there are three common edge banding processes on the market: EVA edge banding, PUR edge banding and laser edge banding
EVA edge sealing is mainly done by hot-melt glue. The granular glue is poured directly into the glue pot and melted by heating and applied to the cross-section of the board. High-temperature heating will produce harmful odors.
EVA edge sealing feature
Advantages: The technology is mature and the price is cheap. More than 85% of the market uses EVA edge sealing technology
Disadvantages: There are obvious glue lines, especially the white door panels are not friendly.Affected by temperature, it is easy to open the glue.
PUR edge sealing is to melt the solid glue into a fluid with the help of the sol system. It is injected into the glue pot through the hose and applied to the cross-section of the board. The PUR glue reacts with air moisture to solidify after being heated. Once the edge sealing is completed, it is irreversible. It will not melt when heated again, will not be affected by temperature and humidity, causing cracking, has excellent stability and high aesthetics.
Advantage: The amount of glue used for PUR edge banding is 1/3 of the amount of EVA, but the tensile strength is more than 3 times that of EVA edge banding, and the quality of the finished product is more guaranteed.
Suitable for solid wood particle board, solid wood multi-layer board, density board, European pine board and other base materials
laser edge sealing features
Laser edge sealing uses a special laser edge banding tape. The laser laser is used to scan the back of the laser special edge banding strip at high temperature to melt the adhesive on the edge banding strip and directly paste it on the board for edge sealing. Due to the uniform glue layer, it can achieve Seamless edge sealing effect.
Advantage: Laser edge banding requires a specialized laser edge banding machine, which is expensive and requires a specialized laser edge banding strip. Only ABS, PP, and PMMA (acrylic) can be used as laser edge banding strips, which means that laser edge banding has limitations. Sexy, mostly used for solid color door panels.
